The Vision and Ministry of…

Just plug in your name. Who are you? What did God create you to do? What is the problem that God sent you to solve? This has been a question that has plagued me for years. Yet, the answer was in my face and I could never see it. We need to know our mission and vision. Do you have personal mission and vision statements? Today would be a good day to start on this path of self-assessment.

The Mission Statement:

Mission Statement: Concise statement of your life purpose.

A personal mission statement is a brief description of what you should focus on, what you should accomplish and who you were created to be. It is a way to focus your energy, actions, behaviors and decisions towards the things that help you reach your destiny.

Keep it simple, clear and brief. You should be able to remember it.
Your mission statement should touch upon your focus and who you were created to be. Think about specific actions, behaviors, habits and qualities that would have a significant positive impact on your journey to repositioning yourself.
Make sure your mission statement is positive. Instead of saying what you don’t want to do or don’t want to be, say what you do want to do or become. Find the positive alternatives to any negative statements.
Include positive behaviors, character traits and values that you consider particularly important and want to develop further.
Create a mission statement that will guide you in your day-to-day actions and decisions. Make it a part of your everyday life.

As you develop your personal mission statement you should think about how your mission affects your life. Is it consistent with your other personal mission statements? Will it conflict with or contradict something else? Is it balanced? Then, you should make it emotional. Including an emotional payoff in your mission statement infuses it with passion and will make it even more compelling, inspiring and energizing.

My personal mission statement is:

A voice in the darkness,
A vehicle to deliverance, and
A pathway to destiny.

This mission statement deals directly to the ministry that God has called me to. Your mission statement will be different from mine because we were created differently. I am an original and so are you. I know that one lady in the class has a mission statement that simply says, “A catalyst for change”. Is that not awesome?

The Vision Statement:

Vision Statement: Concise statement of the unique and distinctive ways that you will accomplish your purpose.

Your personal vision statement guides your life. Your personal vision statement provides the direction necessary to guide the course of your days and the choices you make about your career. Your personal vision statement is the light shining in the darkness toward which you turn to find your way. Your personal vision statement illuminates your way.

Your vision statement adds the all-important how. It defines the distinctive and specific ways that you will accomplish your mission.

Your vision statement propels your mission to specific strategies. Specifying the primary activities you will pursue to accomplish your purpose, it reflects your unique passions, talents, personality traits, experience, and skills.

You should be able to define your vision statement in one concise paragraph. The first sentence of this paragraph is your mission statement. The next one or two sentences specify how you will accomplish your mission.

Your vision statement will evolve over time, reflecting your character development and the acquisition of more skills and experience.

When I add my vision statement to my mission statement, it looks like this.

A voice in the darkness,
A vehicle to deliverance, and
A pathway to destiny
Through preaching and teaching the Word of God
to the underdog and the oppressed.

Now, go and define who you are in Christ.

Subject: My Thoughts and Feelings About You

I want to tell you that I have known you since before the foundations of time. I even know the hairs on your head. I put you together on purpose for a purpose. I looked at you and saw that you were fearfully and wonderfully made. I even created you in my image.

I know the plans that I have for you. Plans to prosper and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future. I also gave you gifts to prepare and equip you for the plans I have for you. These gifts I’ve given are irrevocable. Don’t neglect them. Exercise them and stir them up!

I want you to be confident about this: When I begin a good work in you I will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Although you may encounter tribulations in this world, I want you to know that in me you have peace. Be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.

I am not slack concerning my promises. Forever my Word is settled in heaven and my faithfulness to all generations. When I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; When I have purposed it, I will also do it.

You can look to me as a refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Cast your burdens upon me and I will sustain you. I shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Come unto me when you labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. For I am your rock, your fortress, your deliverer, your strength in whom you can trust. Though you fall you shall not be utterly cast down, for I will uphold you with my hand.

Don’t listen to the ungodly, don’t stand with sinners, and don’t sit with the scornful. But rather delight yourself all day long in my Word. If you do, you will be like a tree planted by the river. You will bring forth fruit in season and whatever you do will prosper.

Finally, I want you to know I love you. I love you so much I gave my only begotten Son. When you believe in Him, you will not die but have healing, freedom, victory, forgiveness, and eternal life!

Calling All Moms

I know that things are really rough for us moms. So, you can only imagine how difficult it is for us women who are raising our children or grandchildren alone. I found a source that may be able to help. There is a website called http://www.mamasource.com where mothers come to ask questions, answer questions, and just to talk. Check it out!!! We need all the help we can get!

Mixed Messages

Spiritual Intimacy

This morning I received a devotional from Charisma Magazine that is really awesome and I wanted to share it with you. After the brunch on Saturday, I think that it is important that we establish an intimate relationship with God. Our relationship with him is the place where we become empowered to answer the charge to help ourselves and one another. Ladies, we are on the verge of a breakthrough. Twofold Prayer for Spiritual Intimacy

After the maiden in the Song of Solomon awakens to fervency, she prays a twofold prayer: “Draw me after you and let us run together” (Song of Sol. 1:4, NAS). The order of that prayer is very important.

First we are drawn to Him in intimacy, then we run with Him in ministry. If we are to become colaborers with Christ, running with Him, we should first focus on being drawn as worshipers, consecrated in purity with affectionate passions.

It’s easy to pray, “Let me run. Increase my sphere of ministry and influence,” without also fervently seeking the Lord to draw us near to Him. But as we are drawn to greater intimacy with God, we have a greater spiritual depth and touch other people’s spirits more effectively.

That is what “running,” or real ministry, is all about— bringing deliverance to the hearts of human beings so they can know and worship God intimately, too.

On the other hand, some believers say, “Draw me,” but never go on to run with the Lord as a partner with Him in His work in the earth. The Holy Spirit does not draw us so we can hang up a “Do Not Disturb” sign and sit in our little comfort zone singing love songs to Jesus the rest of our lives. As fellow heirs with Christ, we are drawn into intimacy, then empowered in ministry to bring others into intimacy with the Lord.

TODAY’S PRAYER:
Lord, after You have drawn me into Your presence, let me run with You into the harvest fields. Use me to change my world for Christ.

Finding Your Own Voice

There is a part of us that is never heard. Ladies, its time to find our voice. How many of us have carried things around inside our hearts and our spirits because we had no voice by which to speak them? How many of us go about our days wearing masks while dying a slow painful death on the inside? How many of us are hiding inside ourselves because the pain we already carry is too powerful to process? So, we go about our days being a person we don’t even know. We are in denial. We are hiding from ourselves, from God and from others. Yet, there are circumstances that come into our lives that trigger the pain. God wants to heal us.

Reconcile yourself to your history. Our personal history will never change but to deny it will hinder your access to your God-given destiny.
Ask the Holy Spirit to search you and to show you…Crisis is a defining moment that can either usher you into a process that will set you free from the limitations that confine you or it can help you die in the midst of the wilderness.
Understand your history or you will sabotage your destiny.
Prepare yourself – you must feel the pain.
